Rees’s Pieces – Tommy calls his best game to date

It’s easy to say when you look at the final score and see a final score of 45-3 in a game you were favored by nine or 10 in to think it was a great job by the coaches, but it certainly was.

Tommy Rees’s game plan allowed for Ian Book (more on him shortly) to run the ball a bunch the first few possessions and his ability to do that helped open up the passing game that then saw Book throw for 312 yards and three touchdowns.

I don’t know if it was designed to be a fake screen and then eventually have Book come back to it or if it was simply because the first read off the fake was covered, but the third quarter screen pass to Javon McKinley might have been my favorite play of the game, even if he didn’t finish the play off with a touchdown.
