Barrett and the Bucs weren’t able to come to terms on a long-term deal after the reigning NFL sack champion was assigned the franchise tag earlier this offseason. Fortunately, he signed his tender and will be back with the team in 2020. The Pro Bowler is coming off a 19.5 sack season where he proved he can be a key cog in Todd Bowles’ defense. But without a few preseason reps, it might be hard for Barrett to get himself back in that same dominant form from last year. There will already be pressure on Barrett this season to prove he’s not just a one-year wonder. While getting 19.5 sacks may be a stretch, anything less than 10.0 sacks might be viewed as a disappointment, which could ultimately hurt Barrett’s wallet when negotiations come around again.
