The Buffalo Bills didn’t have a selection in the first round of Thursday night’s draft. Currently the Bills are slated to pick at No. 54 overall on Friday, as the 2020 NFL Draft continues with the second round.
But there were certainly some things that went down during the opening frame that did concern the Bills.
With that, here are five Bills-related takeaways from Day 1 of the 2020 NFL Draft:
Huge run on wideouts
Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane said he’s now considering Stefon Diggs his team’s first-round pick after the trade to land him shipped out Buffalo’s selection to the Vikings. With that in mind, the Bills were certainly in the market to draft one in the first round.
With the way things went, Beane looks a bit smarter making that decision. In total, four receivers went off the board before Buffalo’s pick. Those were Henry Ruggs (12), Jerry Jeudy (15), CeeDee Lamb (17) and Jalen Reagor (21). Making things even more interesting? The Vikings used that same pick to take the fifth receiver off the board, Justin Jefferson.
In total in the first round, six receivers were taken. Also going off the board after No. 22 was Brandon Aiyuk (25). If Buffalo wants to take one in Round 2, some names to consider: Baylor’s Denzel Mims, Clemson’s Tee Higgins, and Colorado’s Laviska Shenault.
