Unlike the last few, Cody Ford is, for sure, going to have his spot on the roster and was going to no matter what. A second-year pro, the former second-round pick did see some playing time as a rookie. During that, he was up-and-down and because of that, the jury is still out on who should start at right tackle, Ford or veteran Ty Nsekhe?

A case can be made that Nsekhe played better than Ford last season both before and after his ankle injury which sidelined him. So there could easily be justification for Nsekhe playing ahead of Ford. But without testing these two in the heat of battle in the preseason, could Ford be handed the job on opening day a bit quicker?

For what it’s worth, Pro Football Focus ranked Nsekhe as the 42nd best tight end in the NFL in 2019. Ford slotted in at No. 73.
