4-star cornerback Ondre Evans commits to LSU

LSU landed its seventh DB in the 2024 recruiting class with another blue-chip pickup

LSU landed its second blue-chip defensive back this week on Thursday afternoon.

Four-star [autotag]Ondre Evans[/autotag] committed to LSU over NC State, Michigan and Alabama.

According to On3, Evans is the 12th-best cornerback in the class and the best recruit in the state of Tennessee. On3 is also reporting Evans will follow his commitment with an official visit to LSU this weekend.

Evans is the 18th recruit to board LSU’s 2024 class. Upon adding Evans, LSU’s class jumped into 247Sports’ top five. Per On3’s rankings, only Georgia and Ohio State have more four or five-star commits.

The recruitment of Evans continues Brian Kelly’s success recruiting nationally along with his in-state success. Grabbing the best player in Tennessee is a feat considering the Vols‘ recent success and Tennessee’s proximity to Alabama and Georgia.

The secondary is continuing to be addressed. The staff wants to add youth to that room so it can be built from within and not force LSU to the transfer portal every year to find DBs.

Evans is the seventh DB to join the class. Nearly 40% of LSU’s current commits are defensive backs.
