The long-awaited Marquise Goodwin trade finally materialized for the 49ers on Day 3 of the NFL draft. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Goodwin will be traded to the Philadelphia Eagles.
San Francisco will move up to No. 190 in this year’s draft. They sent Goodwin and the 210th pick to Philadelphia.
General manager John Lynch said Monday before the draft that they’d gotten close to moving Goodwin. They finally got that deal done Saturday.
The 49ers’ receivers room was crowded, and Goodwin had struggled to stay on the field the last two years. He played in 20 games while battling injuries and attending to serious off-field personal matters.
While San Francisco aims to remake their receiving corps, Goodwin will get a fresh start on an Eagles team that badly needs help at receiver.
