49ers sign RB Brian Hill after injury in RB room

The #49ers are adding another RB for the preseason finale.

The 49ers are adding some running back depth for the final week of the preseason.

With RB Jeremy McNichols nursing a hamstring injury, San Francisco is set to add veteran RB Brian Hill according to the Athletic’s Matt Barrows. The addition was first reported by MLFootball.

San Francisco officially announced the move early Monday afternoon. To clear a roster spot they released recently-signed DL Tomasi Laulile.

Hill played three games for the 49ers during the 2021 campaign when they had a rash of injuries in the backfield. All 46 of his snaps came on special teams.

In five NFL seasons, Hill has 982 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 209 carries. He figures to get plenty of work in the finale behind Jordan Mason and Tyrion Davis-Price.
