49ers sign former Titans CB Terrance Mitchell

Former Titans CB Terrance Mitchell has found a new home with the 49ers.

After having a disastrous start to his Tennessee Titans tenure, cornerback Terrance Mitchell settled in relatively nicely for the team’s defense.

The veteran corner wasn’t a standout or anything of that nature, but Mitchell provided a somewhat reliable presence on the backend whenever his number was called.

Mitchell also happened to make his fair share of positive plays in his limited role, totaling 39 tackles, four passes defended, one forced fumble, and one interception.

Despite his ugly early season struggles, the Oregon product appears to have shown enough promise in Tennessee that he has now been given a shot to extend his NFL career after he signed a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers recently.

Mitchell is coming off a season where he allowed a completion percentage of 63.6 percent (35-of-55), and a quarterback rating of 94.5 when targeted in coverage.

The former Titans corner finished his one season in Tennessee with a respectable overall grade of 61.2, per Pro Football Focus.

Mitchell now shifts his focus on trying to find his way onto the Niners’ opening day roster.
