49ers sign 1st-round WR Brandon Aiyuk to rookie contract

The 49ers have all but one of their 2020 NFL draft picks signed.

The 49ers on Friday officially announced the signing of both of their first-round draft picks. Ian Rapoport initially reported defensive lineman and No. 14 overall pick Javon Kinlaw signed his deal. The 49ers made that news official, along with the signing of No. 25 overall pick, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

San Francisco moved up six spots in the first round to select Aiyuk out of Arizona State. He was one of the best receivers in the 2020 draft class after the catch, averaging over 9.0 yards after the catch per reception according to Pro Football Focus. Aiyuk spent two years with the Sun Devils and amassed 98 catches, 1,666 yards and 11 touchdowns. He’ll be tasked with filling the role left by Emmanuel Sanders, who signed with the Saints in free agency. Aiyuk as the 25th pick will make $12.5 million on his four-year deal with a $6.7 million signing bonus.

Kinlaw was the 14th overall selection out of South Carolina. San Francisco traded defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the Colts for the No. 13 overall pick, and they used that pick to move back and select Kinlaw 14th. He’ll be one of the players who’ll step in and play a majority of the snaps left behind by Buckner.

The rookie contracts for first-round picks are for four years with a fifth-year club option.

Sixth-round tight end Charlie Woerner is the lone member of the 49ers’ 2020 draft class to not sign his rookie deal.
