The San Francisco 49ers re-signed cornerback Jason Verrett to a one-year deal on Monday. General manager John Lynch took to his social media account on Twitter and confirmed the transaction:
Fired up to have @Jfeeva_2 back w the squad! 🔥 Congratulations JV!

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the deal is for one year and worth $5.5 million. There is a Pro Bowl-related incentive in the contract, as well, which brings it up to $6.5 million if he achieves that honor.
Rapoport added that Verrett had “a multi-year option on the table but opted to bet on himself again.”
After starting his career as a first-round pick of the Chargers, the 29-year-old signed with the Niners ahead of the 2019 season but only played in one game due to an ankle injury.
In 2020, Verrett appeared in 13 games for San Francisco and had a strong season, recording 60 tackles, two for loss, seven passes defended and two interceptions. Perhaps the most encouraging stat was the 802 total snaps Verrett played for the 49ers, a career-high.
Additionally, Pro Football Focus was very nice to Verrett last season. His 77.6 overall mark from the football analytics outlet was their eighth-best grade for any cornerback a year ago.
Cornerback Richard Sherman is also a pending free agent of the 49ers.
