The San Francisco 49ers expect to get quarterback Brock Purdy back for their Week 13 matchup with the Buffalo Bills. That’s where the good injury news ends for San Francisco.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan on Friday after practice told reporters Purdy was a full participant in practice and is expected to play in Buffalo. Purdy missed Week 12 in Green Bay with a shoulder injury and was limited Wednesday and Thursday.
Another group of injured starters isn’t expected to suit up, putting San Francisco’s chances of winning against a top AFC Super Bowl contender severely in jeopardy.
Here’s the injury report for Sunday:
Out
DE Nick Bosa (hip, oblique)
OT Trent Williams (ankle)
LB Dre Greenlaw (Achilles)
CB Deommodore Lenoir (knee)
LG Aaron Banks (concussion)
DT Jordan Elliott (concussion)
Bosa and Williams were also out for Week 12. Lenoir was hurt in that game, as were Banks and Elliott. Greenlaw had his practice window opened ahead of Week 13, but he’s still ramping up and won’t play against the Bills.
Questionable
QB Brock Purdy (shoulder)
WR Chris Conley (knee)
DT Kevin Givens (groin)
LB Demetrius Flanagan-Fowles (knee)
CB Renardo Green (neck)
Purdy’s return should be helpful for the 49ers, but the other injuries are a big enough deal that even the starting signal caller’s return may not help enough. Givens’ return would be significant given Elliott’s absence, and Green figures to start in the slot if he plays since Lenoir is ruled out.
