3-POINTER: WISCONSIN’S ABILITY TO SLOW DOWN TREVION WILLIAMS
After scoring 36 points in a double overtime loss to Michigan, Williams in his last three games has averaged 12 points per game on 16-for-34 (47.05 percent) shooting from the field.
Over Big Ten play Williams is averaging 14.8 points per game, which is the 10th highest scoring average. Reuvers and Micah Potter will each have their chance of defending him in order to try and contain him.
But as he showed in the game against Michigan he is capable of taking over the game if the opponent allows him to. Making it important that the play of Wisconsin’s frontcourt defense tries to limit his post touches.
If they can it will help prevent Williams from generating a high percentage shot for himself as he’s shooting 56.8 percent from the field on an average of 8.5 field goal attempts a game.
In addition, Williams has also been able to set up his teammates over the last four games registering an assist in each game. Williams registered a season high four assists against Michigan State.
With Williams being able to distribute the basketball, in addition, to not turning the basketball over as he has only committed nine turnovers in eight Big Ten games the Badgers will need to be consistent in their defensive assignments to prevent Williams from having success or having him set up one of his teammates on the offensive end.
