3 trades Cowboys should make to own the 2020 NFL Draft

The Dallas Cowboys can improve the most by trading most of their draft capital in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Fourth Round No. 127: Trade to  the Arizona cardinals for WR Christian Kirk

If the rumors are true, the Cardinals are willing to move on from Kirk after adding WR DeAndre Hopkins and are looking for another WR in the draft to lineup with Hopkins and Larry Fitzgerald, the Cowboys would be wise to make this deal.

Kirk would be a perfect fit as the twitchy, slot receiver the offense covets after losing WR’s Cole Beasley and Randall Cobb the last two off-seasons. Dallas may need to sweeten the pot with a future pick, but Kirk, who improved from his rookie to sophomore season, is worth it. Kirk hauled in 68 passes for 709 yards last year and comes at an extremely cap friendly cost for the next two years ($2.3 million total).

No. 164, No. 179, No. 231: Use at least one on CB, LB each

These trades help the Cowboys, but they would still have needs at corner and linebacker. Dallas should use at least one on a late round flyer at both positions. Adams’ versatility helps the secondary overall and Baun adds to the edge rush as the designated pass rusher, but the Cowboys still need middle linebacker depth and CB options.

By utilizing their draft picks for players who have already established themselves, the Cowboys will have maximized their potential in the draft. The picks don’t need to be used on rookies, the selections are just options for the team to improve. Nothing gets the Cowboys in 2020 and beyond better than making some pivotal trades.

The game plan is set and it will be known as the trade draft for years to come.
