3 Worst Day 2 Hauls
Dallas had a couple really bad hauls where they traded away one of the picks and the other selection had no impact.
2000: Dwayne Goodrich, CB, Career AV of 1 over 16 games
2007: James Marten, OL, Career AV of 0 over 1 game
It’s also far too soon to qualify the 2018 and 2019 classes, though the former is off to a great start with WR Michael Gallup and Connor Williams both being starters.
2001: Three Picks, Total AV: 34
With two second-round selections, Dallas thought they were doing something big in 2001. The club drafted Georgia QB Quincy Carter with the first, getting 17 CAV over 38 games from the one-time starting quarterback.
Safety Tony Dixon (CAV: 9 over 56 games) and DT Willie Blade (CAV: 8 over 20 games) round out the class that didn’t have much impact when it was all said and done.
2015: Two Picks, Total AV: 10
Randy Gregory’s story is far from over, but it would be pure lies to say Dallas has reaped the rewards they hoped for when selecting the Nebraska product. He had a strong 2018 with six sacks, but that was after missing most of two years, and now he’s suspended indefinitely again. He only has a CAV of 5 over just 28 games.
The team’s third-round pick was a reach when it happened, and Florida tackle Chaz Green lasted just 22 games for a CAV of 5.
2009: Two Picks, Total AV: 4
The dreaded Special Teams draft. The Roy Williams draft. The Cowboys were without a first-round pick, spent on a bust wideout they acquired in a trade mid-season the previous year. In a weak draft class, Dallas traded back, out of the second round.
With their two third-round picks they selected LB Jason Williams (CAV: 4 over a whopping 60 games) and tackle Robert Brewster (CAV of 0 over just one career game played).
Yikes.
