2025 Tennessee baseball preview: Pitcher and outfielder Marcus Phillips

Tennessee will open its 2025 baseball season on Feb. 14 versus Hofstra at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The Vols will host Hofstra for a three-game nonconference series.

Marcus Phillips enters his second season at Tennessee in 2025.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound junior is a right-handed pitcher and outfielder for the Vols. He appeared in 19 games, including two starts, in 2024 for Tennessee.

Phillips (0-0) recorded three saves, 22 strikeouts and a 4.95 ERA in 20.0 innings pitched against 92 batters. He allowed 15 hits, 13 runs (11 earned), 15 walks, four doubles, one triple, two home runs, five wild pitches and hit two batters.

Phillips did not record any batting statistics in 2024.

He transferred to Tennessee from Iowa Western Community College after the 2023 season.

Tennessee enters the 2025 campaign after winning the College World Series, SEC Tournament and the SEC regular-season championship in 2024.
