2025 four-star lineman chooses Kentucky over Auburn

The number one prospect from the state of Kentucky chose to stay home on Tuesday, as four-star standout defensive lineman prospect[autotag]Javeon Campbell[/autotag] announced he would be playing for the Kentucky Wildcats.

The 6-5 interior lineman chose his home-state squad over Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, and many other high profile programs in the SEC and beyond.

The No. 14 overall defensive lineman prospect in the nation, Campbell will surely boost up a Kentucky recruiting class already widely considered to be in the top 25 in the country. Head coach Mark Stoops and his staff reportedly plan to use the 260 pound Campbell in the interior of the defense, with the plan of “letting [him] do his thing”, according to Campbell.

After visiting Lexington 10 times during the recruitment process, it was going to be an uphill battle for teams outside of the Bluegrass State to swing its top football prospect away from home. Despite the best efforts of Hugh Freeze and the Auburn staff, Campbell chose to stay home to represent the Blue and White.

As he put it, “the place, location, everything. Close to home. That’s what sold it to me.”
