2025 4-star safety out of Bushnell (FL) has flipped from Georgia to Texas A&M

Boom! Texas A&M has flipped a former Georgia safety commit in the 2025 cycle!

Boom! Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class added one of the top defensive prospects in the cycle on Saturday morning as 4-star safety Rashad Johnson, a former Georgia commit, has flipped his commitment to the Aggies.

Just hours before Texas A&M kicks off week 2 of the 2024 season, hosting McNeese State on Saturday, Johnson, who has been on head coach Mike Elko’s radar since he arrived in College Station, looked like the perfect future fit in Elko and defensive coordinator Jay Bateman’s scheme, while being one of the more versatile athletes in the class.

Standing at 6-2 and 200 pounds, Johnson added nearly 20 pounds of muscle to his frame before the start of his senior season at South Sumter HS. The Florida native has continued to see time at wide receiver and even tight end before transitioning to safety full-time at the next level.

During his 2023 junior season, Johnson recorded 59 tackles, seven pass deflections, six tackles for loss, an interception, and a sack. On offense, Johnson hauled nine receptions, 209 yards, and three touchdowns.

Speed, size, and burst make up Johnson’s trait-based makeup, but it’s his mentality that sets the ascending safety apart from many of his position counterparts.

According to 247Sports, Johnson is currently ranked 24th among safety prospects in the 2025 cycle and 34th in Florida.
