One of the perks of recruiting visits during the spring for every prospect is getting to take in baseball games and the incredible environments surrounding them, as 2025 4-star linebacker Darrell “Duke” Johnson did just that during his recent visit to College Station.
During his unofficial visit to Texas A&M late last week, Johnson witnessed the Aggie baseball team demolish Rhode Island 11-0. On the football side, head coach Mike Elko and his staff have already developed a solid relationship with one of the top defensive playmakers in the 2025 cycle.
However, the Aggies will face stiff competition for his approval. They join Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, and UCF on his final five program list ahead of his now-announced commitment date later this month.
On Sunday, On3’s Chad Simmons revealed that Johnson will announce his commitment on Wednesday, March 20. While Florida State holds an edge, according to several recruiting analysts, the Aggies are right in the thick of things. Perhaps the top athlete in the class, Johnson, who played over five positions during his high school career, recorded 103 tackles during his 2023 junior season.
