Fantasy football: Where to draft New Orleans Saints WR Chris Olave

Analyzing New Orleans Saints WR Chris Olave’s 2024 fantasy football ADP and where to target him in fantasy drafts.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

New Orleans Saints WR Chris Olave has been impressive in 2 NFL seasons. Selected 11th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, Olave has been an integral part of the Saints offense. Below, we look at Chris Olave’s 2024 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Entering 2024, he is expected to take another big step in his development and ideally will rise to a top-10 or top-5 WR in the league. The acrobatic receiver is intriguing in terms of fantasy value.

(ADP data courtesy of MyFantasyLeague.com; last updated at time of this publishing – ADPs continually change as more drafts occur)

Olave has an ADP of 27.96 in redraft leagues, which puts him in the range of the 3rd to 4th round, depending on the size of the league.

Among wide receivers, Olave’s ADP puts him 11th at the position, behind the likes of Cooper Kupp (Los Angeles Rams, 26.37), Davante Adams (Las Vegas Raiders, 22.47), Puka Nacua (Los Angeles Rams, 16.96), Marvin Harrison Jr. (Arizona Cardinals, 16.34), and Garrett Wilson (New York Jets, 14.97).

Where should you draft Olave?

Olave’s fantasy value should continue to see similar numbers as it has in years past. He is the top target for QB Derek Carr.

As he continues to become more and more experienced in the NFL, while forming a deeper connection with Carr, he should see his targets-to-receptions ratio start to even out. He was targeted 138 times last season with 87 receptions.

With RBs Alvin Kamara and Jamaal Williams rushing the ball — not to mention Kamara’s threat as a receiver — Olave can create more space, which translates directly to his fantasy value.

Draft Olave in the 2nd or 3rd round. There are other aforementioned receivers who you should take before Olave, but he is the Saints WR1 and will produce as such, even with Carr who is not a top QB. When healthy, he’s good for 90-100 catches and 1,200-plus yards. He’s even more valuable in PPR leagues because of how often he’s targeted.

Late field goal seals Notre Dame win over Texas A&M

Notre Dame kicker Mitch Jeter put the dagger in Texas A&M with a late field goal that sealed the victory.

Field goals don’t get as much attention as touchdowns unless they win the game at the final gun. But Mitch Jeter’s kick with 30 seconds remaining sealed the deal for Notre Dame over Texas A&M.

Jeremiyah Love scored the go-ahead touchdown with 1:54 seconds left in the game, but Texas A&M had one more chance to tie the game. The Aggies went four-and-out, however, giving the Irish the ball back with 1:34 to play. Notre Dame ran the ball three times and bled a minute off the clock before calling on Jeter, knowing that a successful field goal would put the game out of reach.

Jeter drilled it and the Irish are now 1-0 after winning their season opener.

Fantasy football: Where to draft San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel

Analyzing San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel’s 2024 fantasy football ADP and where to target him in fantasy drafts.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel has been impressive in 5 NFL seasons. Taken in the 2nd round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Samuel has been selected to a Pro Bowl and is a 1-time All-Pro. Below, we look at Deebo Samuel’s 2024 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Entering 2024, he is expected to remain an integral part of the 49ers’ offense while becoming a top receiver in the NFL. The rusher-receiver hybrid is intriguing in terms of fantasy value.

Among WRs, Samuel’s ADP puts him 12th at the position, behind the likes of Chris Olave (New Orleans Saints, 27.96), Cooper Kupp (Los Angeles Rams, 26.37), Davante Adams (Las Vegas Raiders, 22.47), Puka Nacua (Los Angeles Rams, 16.96), and Marvin Harrison Jr. (Arizona Cardinals, 16.34).

Where should you draft Samuel?

Samuel’s fantasy value should see similar numbers as previous seasons, as the 49ers have made minimal changes to their high-octane offense.

The 49ers recently inked a new deal for Aiyuk to complement Samuel. Captaining the offense is QB Brock Purdy, who also has TE George Kittle as a target and RB Christian McCaffrey on the ground.

The multitude of options Purdy has does not impact Samuel negatively like many may think, rather it keeps defenses on its toes and opens up the offense for players like Samuel to increase their stats. Samuel is also a threat on the ground, which amplifies his fantasy value.

Draft Samuel slightly after McCaffrey, but do not let him fall out of the 3rd round. When healthy, he’s good for 60-70 catches and 900-plus yards through the air and 200-plus yards on the ground.

Robert Morris’ Rob Carter Jr. make incredible interception

Rob Carter Jr. of Robert Morris with a highlight-reel pick

This one will go down on the list of best picks of the year and we are still in August.

Rob Carter Jr. made the incredible interception in Robert Morris’ 36-14 loss to Utah State.

Carter is a sophomore DB out of Dan River HS in Danville (VA).

Despite disjointed offense, Michigan football beats Fresno State in season opener

It wasn’t pretty, but it was still a convincing win in the end. #GoBlue

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — It wasn’t pretty in the early going but Michigan football still managed to beat Fresno State in convincing fashion, 30-10.

The defending national champion still has the requisite defense to go deep into the season, but offensively, the Wolverines looked disjointed at times. Besides the first drive (which was on a short field after an early interception by nickel Zeke Berry), the last drive of the first half and the last drive of the game, the offense sputtered often, with offensive line play that didn’t clearly resemble the units that Michigan has fielded since 2021.

“The offense had its ups and downs, but we’re gonna get better,” Moore said after the game. “In all phases, special teams as well, we’re going to try to get better.”

It was the first start for former walk-on Davis Warren at quarterback, who won the battle over expected starter Alex Orji. Warren managed to go 15-for-25 for 118 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. The pick came early in the game and it appeared as if it took him some time before he got back in rhythm — understandable given his lack of playing time on the big stage.

Still, Warren was relieved that the maize and blue got the win, and how the team fought throughout.

“I’m proud of the way the guys battled tonight,” Warren said. “And the guys trusted me and rallied around me. We’ve got a lot of work too, but I’m excited where it started.”

The run game also sputtered until Kalel Mullings came alive late in the game. The team, overall, had 148 yards, but Mullings led the way with 15 carries for 92 yards. Receiving-wise, tight end Colston Loveland led the way with eight catches for 87 yards and a touchdown.

On the other side of the ball, the defense was mostly dominant. Not only did Berry get his interception, but Will Johnson — who struggled a bit early on — had an 86-yard pick six after two seeming interceptions (one by safety Quinten Johnson and another by safety Makari Paige) were called back — the first being called incomplete and the second due to a roughing the passer penalty. Edge rusher Josaiah Stewart led the team with two sacks.

Michigan will need to get its ducks in a row quickly as No. 3 Texas comes to Ann Arbor next week.

Instant reactions to No. 20 Texas A&M football team loss versus No. 7 Notre Dame

With the entire nation watching, the Texas A&M football team fell short on Saturday against Notre Dame. Next up is McNeese State on Sept. 7.

With the entire nation watching, the Texas A&M football team fell short this weekend against Notre Dame.

The No. 20 Aggies (0-1) lost to the No. 7 Fighting Irish (1-0) by a final score of 23-13 on Saturday night in College Station. Notre Dame senior quarterback Riley Leonard bested his former head coach Mike Elko in their respective first games in their new homes.

The game’s first touchdown wasn’t scored until the second half as the top 25 opponents went into halftime tied 6-6 in a low-scoring affair. The victory is the first ranked SEC win for the Fighting Irish since 2004 against No. 9 Tennessee.

Texas A&M junior QB Conner Weigman struggled in his return from injury and first contest under the tutelage of offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Collin Klein. Weigman was 12-of-30 for 100 yards and 2 interceptions.

The Aggies’ lone tuddy came on a 1-yard rush by junior running back Le’Veon Moss, who served as Texas A&M’s bell cow against Notre Dame. He tallied 20 carries for 72 yards and 1 TD with 2 catches for 13 yards.

Next up for the Aggies is McNeese State at Kyle Field on Sept. 7 at 11:45 a.m. CT on SEC Network.

Brandon Johnson earns Ducks Wire Player of the Game in Oregon debut

A look a Oregon Ducks transfer CB Brandon Johnson’s spectacular week 1 performance.

The Oregon Ducks season opener did not go as planned.

On Saturday before the game, Oregon was favored by 45.5 points over the Idaho Vandals, but with under six minutes to go in the fourth quarter the Ducks found themselves ahead by just three points, leading 17-14.

There were a lot of issues with the way the Ducks played, particularly on offense. The offensive line struggled for all four quarters, and quarterback Dillon Gabriel had several miscues. Wide receiver Tez Johnson was a bright spot, catching 12 passes for 81 yards and 2 touchdowns, but the standout player in Oregon’s season opener was cornerback Brandon Johnson. He is the Ducks Wire Player of the Game.

Johnson, a nickel corner who transferred this offseason from the Duke Blue Devils, kept the Ducks in the game as Idaho continued to put pressure on them. In the first half, the Vandals were driving, threatening to tie the game 7-7, when Johnson contorted his body and bobbled the ball before securing an interception in the Oregon end zone. The Ducks capitalized off the turnover, embarking on a long drive that ended in a Jordan James touchdown.

Johnson’s impact didn’t stop there. On the Vandals’ final drive in the first half, QB Jack Layne took a shot to the pylon to Tony Harste, but Johnson was draped all over and broke up the pass. In the second half, on a critical third down, Johnson got into the backfield to blow up a screen pass, making the tackle for a two-yard loss and forcing a punt.

Johnson’s performance was spectacular, and he’ll be valuable for Oregon next week and all season, but the Ducks have a lot of work to do ahead of Boise State. And although the offense was Oregon’s main problem area on Saturday, the defense needs work as well.

Notre Dame football lands a massive road win against Texas A&M

The Irish took over late in the fourth quarter

For three and-a-half quarters, Notre Dame and Texas A&M played to a very competitive 13-13 tie.

After the Aggies tied the game each team alternated possession without another score, then the Irish took over with just over 6-minutes left in the game. They drove 8-play for 85-yards in 4-minutes and 29-seconds to take a 20-13 lead on a Jeremiyah Love touchdown run.

They then stopped A&M’s next drive after just four plays and used the great field position to seal the deal with a Mitch Jeter 46-yard field goal. The road win starts the Irish’s season on a huge note, as they only have two more top-25 opponents left on the schedule.

Win No. 1 on the year will be a huge part of Notre Dame’s College Football Playoff resume. It’s the biggest win of Marcus Freeman’s tenure, the first win over a ranked SEC team in 20-years.

Fantasy football: Where to draft San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk

Analyzing San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk’s 2024 fantasy football ADP and where to target him in fantasy drafts.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk has been impressive since entering the NFL 4 seasons ago. Aiyuk was selected 25th overall by San Francisco in the 2020 NFL Draft. He had a solid first few seasons in the league but really became a star in 2023, eclipsing 1,300 yards for the first time in his career on an impressive 17.9 yards per reception average. Below, we look at Brandon Aiyuk’s 2024 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Entering 2024, Aiyuk is expected to again play a big role in a dynamic 49ers offense. Ideally, Aiyuk has the potential to be a top-10 fantasy receiver.

Brandon Aiyuk’s ADP: 42.65

(ADP data courtesy of MyFantasyLeague.com; last updated at time of this publishing – ADPs continually change as more drafts occur)

Aiyuk has an ADP of 42.65 in redraft leagues, which puts him in the range of the 3rd to 5th round, depending on the size of the league. His ADP is lower than that of teammate Deebo Samuel (30.04), though.

Among WRs, Aiyuk’s ADP puts him 23rd at the position, behind the likes of DeVonta Smith (Philadelphia Eagles, 42.83), Michael Pittman (Indianapolis Colts, 40.82) and DK Metcalf (Seattle Seahawks, 37.75), and slightly ahead of Amari Cooper (Cleveland Browns, 51.47), Zay Flowers (Baltimore Ravens, 55.32) and Tee Higgins (Cincinnati Bengals, 59.65).

Where should you draft Aiyuk?

Aiyuk’s fantasy value may taken a hit this year given the numerous mouths to feed in a dynamic 49ers offense. Samuel and RB Christian McCaffrey, who is among the best pass-catching RBs in the NFL, will probably each get more targets than him. While Aiyuk could replicate last season, there’s not much room in the offense to build on those numbers.

With the 49ers, Aiyuk should see 100-plus targets and again top 70 receptions; however, one should expect his yards per reception to come down a bit and around 1,200-1,300 yards from the 5th-year star. Aiyuk was the 10th-best fantasy option last season and has more of a realistic expectation to be around the 15th-best as he was in 2022.

Draft Aiyuk in the late 4th round, and don’t let him slip to the end of the 5th. He has more value in standard leagues given his lack of volume targets.
