Draymond Green says Rob Dillingham will make teams regret passing

NBA veteran Draymond Green had good things to say about Rob Dillingham.

The NBA draft has come and gone and both Reed Sheppard and Rob Dillingham parlayed their time at Kentucky into being top ten picks. Both have the qualities that could make them stars as professionals. At least one NBA star thinks Dillingham, in particular, will be great.

Draymond Green has played for the Golden State Warriors for 12 seasons, and has won four NBA championships. He is also not afraid to say what’s on his mind, and had some things to say about Dillingham being picked eighth by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

On his podcast, The Draymond Green Show, he had this to say:

Who won the draft to me was the Minnesota Timberwolves. The reason the Minnesota Timberwolves won the draft is that they drafted their point guard of the future, Rob Dillingham, who I think is a very special player.

He added:

There’s going to be some teams that regret passing Rob Dillingham.

Time will tell just how good Rob Dillingham is in the NBA, but there is no doubting his talent with the basketball. He is fearless, and is immediately one of the NBA’s quickest players. His ability to create in a number of ways will serve him well, and his potential is through the roof. Draymond Green thinks the Timberwolves got a star.

Transfer first baseman Matthew Bergevin confirms his commitment to Texas A&M

One of Texas A&M’s top additions has confirmed his commitment after Michael Earley’s hiring

With the announcement Texas A&M has hired Michael Earley as the baseball program’s newest head coach, nearly every player who entered the transfer portal is expected to remove their name. That includes star hitters Jace LaViolette and Gavin Grahovac.

As Michael Earley fills out his coaching staff, there’s promising news for the team. High-priority transfer first baseman Matthew Bergevin will stick with the Aggies despite his recent visit to the Texas Longhorns after former head coach Jim Schlossnagle departed for Austin earlier this week.

During the 2023 season, Bergevin hit .287/.418/.627 and a team-leading 18 home runs. His highly impressive 1.000 OPS infused consistency and power to an already dynamic batting lineup. Heading into the 2025 season, Bergevin will likely battle with fellow first baseman Blake Binderup for the starting spot in the depth chart.

While Bergevin is one of the first players to announce his pledge to play for Earley, expect more news on that front throughout the coming week.

Videos show Taylor Swift’s adorable, surprised reaction to seeing Travis Kelce in the Eras Tour Dublin VIP tent

Taylor Swift appeared to be surprised to see Travis Kelce there.

It looked like Travis Kelce wasn’t going to be at any of the Eras Tour Dublin shows this weekend, given the fact that he was attending Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s wedding on Saturday.

But apparently Kelce got on a plane after the wedding and proved that — as Swift said — jet lag is a choice. Because there he was in Ireland on Sunday for Night 3 of the Eras Tour, as was actress Julia Roberts.

And it looks like Swift didn’t know he’d be there, with videos of her in mid-performance and suddenly, she looked happy and surprised to see his face there.

Here’s that moment:

Clippers release statement about losing Paul George in free agency

The Los Angeles Clippers have released a statement on losing Paul George in free agency.

The Philadelphia 76ers are in the driver’s seat. They created a ton of cap space for this very moment as they appear to be all in on Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George.

George, who spent the previous five seasons with the Clippers, was in negotiations with the organization to try and remain in LA. However, George and the Clippers have just not been able to agree on the terms of the deal. George wants a fourth season while the Clippers are reluctant to give him more than three years.

With that said, the Clippers know they have lost the bidding war. The organization released a statement thanking George for his services and wishing him luck in his future endeavors.

The Sixers are the absolute frontrunners for George now. With the Orlando Magic signing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to his deal, the only other team that can offer George a 4-year max is the Detroit Pistons and one can assume that George has no interest in joining the Pistons.

Projecting the Chargers’ tight end depth chart in 2024

Taking a crack at projecting what the Los Angeles Chargers tight end room will look like entering the 2024 season.

Over the next few weeks ahead of training camp, I will continue to break down the depth chart for each Chargers position.

Quarterback

Running back

Wide receiver

Next, I project what the tight end room will look like heading into the 2024 season.

Will Dissly

Jim Harbaugh and Greg Roman want an efficient running game, and signing Dissly was part of the process of achieving this goal. Dissly consistently ranked among Pro Football Focus’ highest-graded run-blocking tight ends, most recently finishing as the third-best behind George Kittle and Charlie Woerner in 2023. Dissly, a 2018 fourth-round pick out of the University of Washington, dealt with injuries in his first couple of seasons before becoming a key piece in the Seahawks’ offense. He started 55 of 62 games from 2020 to 2023. Dissly amassed 127 catches for 1,421 yards and 13 touchdowns throughout his time in Seattle.

Hayden Hurst

The Chargers continued their retooling of the positional group by signing Hurst. This is his fifth team since entering the league in 2018. He was initially drafted by the Ravens, spending two years with them, two with the Falcons and a season apiece with the Bengals (2022) and Panthers (2023). Hurst’s best season came with Atlanta, where he caught 56 passes for 571 yards and six touchdowns — all career-highs. When he played under Roman during his two-season stint with Baltimore, Hurst finished with his highest yards per reception marks of his career, 12.5 and 11.6, respectively. While Dissly will be used more exclusively as a blocker, Hurst will be a piece in the passing game.

Donald Parham Jr.

I have the Chargers starting the season with three tight ends, so there should be a battle for this spot between Parham, Smarrt and undrafted free agents Zach Heins and Luke Benson. But I give the nod to Parham. Parham has been dinged with injuries over the past couple of seasons, but when he is on the field he provides a big target with his 6-foot-8 frame, which especially comes in clutch in red-zone situations. Parham is also functional as a run blocker, as he can seal off edges.

Kentucky basketball has reached out to 2026 recruit Anthony Felesi

Kentucky basketball has contacted class of 2026 guard Anthony Felesi.

Kentucky basketball has begun to make offers to the players in the 2025 recruiting class. However, coach Mark Pope and his staff are also looking ahead to 2026 as well, and have begun to establish contact with some of the top players in that group, including Anthony Felesi.

Felesi is a 6’5″ guard out of Utah who is currently ranked as the number 73 overall player by 247sports. The four-star prospect is currently their 18th ranked shooting guard as well.

Kentucky Sports Radio’s Jacob Polacheck reports (subscription require) that Felesi is interested in taking a visit with the Wildcats this fall. Felesi apparently has mutual interest in Kentucky.

I like Kentucky a lot. It’s been one of the dream schools that I’ve always wanted to go to. It’s been in my top five for a long time.”

It will be quite some time before Felesi has to make any type of decision, but it’s certainly encouraging to hear that there is interest from both sides. This is a player fans will want to keep an eye on over the next couple of years.

Former Duke women’s basketball player Kennedy Brown wins 3×3 tournament with Team USA

Kennedy Brown, a former Duke center, helped lead the United States to a 20-17 victory over Dallas 3XBA in the 3×3 W Series event in Quebec on Sunday.

Former Duke basketball center Kennedy Brown added some Team USA prestige to her resume on Sunday.

Brown and the U.S. 3×3 women’s basketball team won a FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series event in Quebec on Sunday, a 20-17 triumph over Dallas 3XBA.

Brown finished with five points during the title game, and she also scored seven points in a semifinal victory over the hosting Canadian team.

The 6-foot-6 center started 67 games for the Blue Devils over the last two seasons, and she averaged 8.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game last season. She scored a season-high 17 points against Toledo, and she contributed nine points and five rebounds to Duke’s monumental upset of Ohio State during the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Head coach Kara Lawson routinely credited Brown for the Blue Devils’ defensive prowess.

The victory comes roughly one month before the Olympic Games in Paris, where the U.S. hopes to win gold.

Spurs agree to deal with future Hall of Famer Chris Paul in free agency

The San Antonio Spurs have agreed to a deal with future Hall of Famer Chris Paul in free agency.

The San Antonio Spurs have made their first big move in free agency. In an effort to continue to grow around superstar big man Victor Wembanyama, the franchise needed a veteran floor general who can run the pick-and-roll and make things easier for Wemby and everybody else on the floor.

That guy has proven to be Chris Paul. The Spurs have agreed to a deal to bring Paul to San Antonio and will look to him to help the franchise take another leap in the Western Conference standings.

In a down year with the Golden State Warriors, Paul averaged 9.2 points, 6.8 assists, and 3.9 rebounds while shooting 37.1% from deep. He should do wonders for the Spurs to help them take the next step in their rebuild.

Paul is a 12-time All-Star and is one of the elite floor generals the NBA has ever seen. He has obviously lost a step, but he can still be a starting point guard in the NBA.

Report: Sixers agree to a deal with veteran shooting guard Eric Gordon

The Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to a deal with veteran shooting guard Eric Gordon in free agency.

The Philadelphia 76ers continue to move forward with their free agency plans as they look to build a championship contending roster around Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. They already agreed to a deal with Andre Drummond and now they’ve added another shooter.

The Sixers have agreed to a deal with veteran shooting guard Eric Gordon who spent the previous season with the Phoenix Suns. He averaged 11.0 points and 2.0 assists while shooting 37.8% from deep on 5.8 attempts per night.

Gordon spent seven seasons with the Houston Rockets from 2016 through 2023 so he has a history with President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey from their days together in Houston.

Gordon will look to space the floor for Embiid and Maxey to operate. One has to figure that while he likely won’t start, he will play a key role for Philadelphia. He has the shooting and the experience to help the Sixers get over the hump in the Eastern Conference.

Texas A&M has found its new pitching coach under new HC Michael Earley

New Texas A&M head coach Michael Earley has found his new pitching coach

On Sunday, Texas A&M athletic director Trev Alberts made the first significant hire of his tenure with the university. Former hitting coach Michael Earley will return as the baseball program’s head coach, just days after former head coach Jim Schlossnagle shockingly departed for the University of Texas.

Earley tentatively followed Schlossnagle to Texas after officially leaving the program on Tuesday.

Albert’s coaching search was extensive, a process that kept the fans informed and engaged. At the same time, Earley’s name kept popping up as players past and present voiced their support for him to take over despite his youth and lack of head coaching experience.

Earley put pen to paper on Sunday morning and became the 21st head baseball coach in Texas A&M history. The first order of business is building his staff given Nolan Cain and highly regarded pitching coach Max Weiner are staying in Austin.

Earley will likely bring in Texas assistant coach Caleb Longley as the team’s new recruiting director.

On Sunday afternoon, it was reported Earley had found his new pitching coach. Washington head coach Jason Kelly is headed to College Station to lead the pitching staff. Kelly brings extensive experience, and he led the Huskies to an NCAA regional appearance in 2023.

The two served on the same staff at Arizona State, so this looks like a perfect hire on paper to keep the pitching success in place.
