Amid all the smoke surrounding 2024 five-star wide receiver and Texas A&M commit Cam Coleman, the recent rumor regarding his potential flip to the Auburn Tigers is based on one beat writer’s “source” or, more realistically, opinion.
I’m not saying this isn’t possible, as first-year Tigers head coach Hugh Freeze is still the offensive guru we saw during his years at Ole Miss and Liberty. Still, Coleman’s family ties to Texas place him in a difficult spot, especially during Texas A&M’s coaching transition after the firing of now-former head coach Jimbo Fisher, who had been recruiting Coleman since his early high school playing days.
On the field, Coleman is one of the more dynamic playmakers in the country and the top wide receiver in Alabama. After spending most of his time in the Top 10 of On3’s 2024 On300 rankings, Coleman is now ranked 5th, for good reason.

In 11 games during his 2023 senior season at Phenix City (AL), Coleman recorded 53 receptions, 1,195 receiving yards, and 16 touchdowns while playing as a true X receiver throughout the year. At 6-4 and nearly 190 pounds, Coleman’s length, speed, and incredible catch radius have made him the most sought-after offensive prospect in the class.
