2024 5-Star Edge Colin Simmons will visit Texas A&M in late July

Big-time 2024 prospect, five-star Edge Colin Simmons will make the rounds the summer, including an unofficial visit to Texas A&M in July.

Texas A&M and head coach Jimbo Fisher are attempting to reel in the biggest fish in the 2024 recruiting class, as five-star Edge Colin Simmons has released his visit schedule for the summer. On the weekend of July 26, he’ll make his way to College Station for an unofficial visit.

In most instances, I’ll avoid the terms “elite” and “generational” when describing recruits unless the film backs it up, but let me say that Colin Simmons is an exceptional athlete and one of the most feared defenders in the 2024 cycle. According to 247Sports, Simmons is positioned as the 26th-ranked player in the class, the 4th-ranked Edge, and the 6th-ranked player in Texas, and is expected to continue rising in the rankings.

Standing at 6-3 and 225 pounds, strength, bend, and speed to power define Simmons’s ability as a pass rusher, and like most high-end athletes coming out of the high school ranks, he’ll quickly develop his pass rush arsenal as soon as he enters a collegiate program. In an interview with On3 last week, Simmons noted that although he is currently pegged to land with LSU by several recruiting experts, staying in Texas, explicitly mentioning Texas and Texas A&M, is still a viable option.

“Texas is for sure up there…Texas A&M is for sure up there too…they’ll both be receiving an OV. And just staying in state, ain’t nothing wrong with that.”

Take that as you’d like, but for all the hand-wringing over top prospects sending “mixed signals” to various programs, this young man is considering every option and ensuring his next destination works for him and his family.
