When it comes to recruiting in the time of NIL, landing inside the Top lists for every blue-chip recruit is very exciting on the surface, but once the comparison process between the other competing programs begins, it may be the start of a bidding war.
For Texas A&M, the 2024 recruiting cycle has been a slow roll as we near the end of April, but one prospect who has been on head coach Jimbo Fisher’s radar since last Summer has been 4-star do-it-all wide receiver Freddie Dubose Jr. out of Spring Branch, Texas, who recently placed Texas A&M on his Top 8 program list, featuring Texas, Houston, Penn State, TCU, UTSA, Kansas, and Tennessee as their primary competition.
According to 247Sports, Dubose is ranked as the 27th wide receiver in the 2024 class, and the 34th-ranked player in Texas.

Standing at 6-1 and just over 170 lbs, Dubose is due to add substantial muscle mass once he enters a collegiate program, and is one of the most dangerous offensive playmakers once the ball reaches his grasp. Oh, and if you’re a defensive back lined up one on one on the boundary, Dubose’s second-gear speed out of his break will simply embarrass most secondaries.
However, Dubose sadly tore his ACL after the first game of the 2022 season, so aside from his fantastic 2021 film, his 2023 senior season bodes to be his best yet. After only taking one visit to College Station during the recruiting pool party on July 30th, nothing is currently scheduled, though I suspect things are in motion as we speak.
