One position that has yet to be secured in Texas A&M’s 2024 recruiting class is running back, but that doesn’t mean that landing one of the top backs in the cycle is out of the question as we enter the final week of the recruiting dead period.
So, who remains on the Aggies’ radar? 2024 four-star running back Caden Durham, who, according to 247Sports Composite rankings, is positioned as the 95th-ranked player in the class, the 9th-ranked RB, and the 18th-ranked player in Texas. On Thursday, it was announced that Durham will announce his commitment on Friday, Aug. 25.
Entering his senior season at Duncanville High School in Duncanville, Texas, Durham’s incredibly productive 2022 junior season, which included 1,960 rushing yards and 36 rushing touchdowns, has led to nearly every Power 5 program in the country fielding an offer, while LSU, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Texas A&M are leading the pack. However, the Sooners are quickly becoming the favorites at the moment.

Texas A&M has defied the recruiting odds multiple times this summer, as four-star OT Weston Davis was highly favored to land with LSU before committing to the Aggies, and four-star safety Myles Davis, a heavy favorite head to Austin and the Texas Longhorns, who committed to Maroon and White last Wednesday.
So yes, even though the odds aren’t in the Aggies’ favor at the moment, plenty of time remains for Jimbo Fisher and his staff to potentially host Durham for a second official visit after taking his first on June 2.
But after 2024 four-star running back Taylor Tatum committed to Oklahoma on Friday, things may be trending towards the Aggies way.
