Texas A&M has found itself on yet another Top 5 program for a prospect out of the 2024 recruiting class, this time being four-star linebacker Joseph Phillips out of Booker T. Washington High School in Tuskegee, Alabama.
According to 247Sports, Phillips is ranked as the 16th EDGE and 18th player in the 2024 cycle. Out of his Top 5, the Aggies are in competition with Auburn, Tennesee, Clemson, and Georgia. Texas A&M offered Phillips back in November of last year, while the rising defensive prospect took an unofficial visit to College Station on April 6.

During his 2022 junior season at Booker T. Washington, Phillips recorded 75 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 9 sacks, 4 pass breakups, and 2 forced fumbles, while netting 29 receptions, 336 receiving yards, and 6 touchdowns as a receiver on offense.
His tape is simply a horror show for any offensive lineman who had to face him, lined up off the edge as a stand-up pass rusher, Phillips’ terrorizing speed and athleticism paired with his 6-3, 225-pound frame begs the question, how did he only have 9 sacks last season? Either way, expect big things from Joseph Phillips during his 2023 senior season.
Texas A&M made the cut, and that’s all that matters heading into their big recruiting push this summer, which will hopefully include another campus visit sooner than later.
