Texas A&M’s 2024 recruiting class is slowly growing while it aims to match the 2023 cycle, focused on securing commitments from some of the top prospects at positions of need while looking toward the future.
For head coach Jimbo Fisher, newly minted offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino’s offensive acumen will surely lure more playmakers to the program soon. Still, as it stands, three-star wide receiver Debron Gatling is currently the only WR prospect signed in the 2024 class.
So, with a clear focus on what Gatling can bring to the Aggies as soon as the 2024 campaign, those who had the opportunity to watch him shine during the annual Cam Newton 7 on 7 competition at Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia, was in for a treat. During Memorial Day Weekend, On3’s Jeremy Johnson covered the event, ranking Gatling as the No. 4 performer at the camp. In comparison to uncommitted 2024 four-star receiver Bredell Richardson, Here’s what Johnson had to say on Gatling’s performance:
“Gatling was consistently making plays when his number was called. He and his high school quarterback Luke Nickel got off to a torrid start on Sunday connecting often in the early games.”
Debron Gatling’s vertical speed and soft hands, paired with an already impressive athletic profile at 6-0 and 180 pounds with noted defensive versatility at defensive back, are just some of the many reasons Jimbo Fisher and his staff are beyond excited about having Gatling included in their plans.
