Announcing late Tuesday night, 2024 three-star linebacker and Tupelo, Mississippi native Tristan Jernigan, who committed to Texas A&M on May 1, has shut down his recruitment and remains 100% committed to the Maroon and White.
After recent visits to Arkansas and Alabama, Jimbo Fisher’s primary worry has now been put to bed, knowing that one of the most underrated defensive prospects in the 2024 cycle is staying put.
Jernigan’s profile has continued to rise this summer, just months ahead of his highly anticipated senior campaign, receiving multiple SEC offers. At the same time, his official visit to College Station on June 9 was even more important than all of his knew. Coming off of a stellar 2022 junior campaign, Jernigan totaled 96 tackles (52 solo), 8.5 sacks, and an average of eight tackles per game.

A favorite of Texas A&M defensive coordinator and linebackers coach D.J. Durkin, Jernigan’s versatile skillset and sideline-to-sideline ability make him a perfect fit for A&M’s 4-2-5 defensive scheme where speed, athleticism, and tackling ability are critical for success, two traits Jernigan thrives in the middle of the defense.
As Fisher and his staff continue to host prospect after prospect in the 2024 cycle, one thing remains clear; Tristan Jernigan will be donning Maroon and White as soon as the 2024 season. Gig’ Em, Tristan!
