The draw for the U.S. Open Cup’s round of 16 has produced some enticing pairings.
Thursday’s draw produced another chapter for El Tráfico, with Los Angeles FC hosting the LA Galaxy in the western quadrant of the tournament’s bracket.
The winner of that game will face the victor from another regional rivalry, with the Colorado Rapids hosting Real Salt Lake in a Rocky Mountain Cup clash.
Fans of upsets also got something of a gift, with the final two remaining lower-division teams (both representing the USL Championship) both getting to play their last-16 match on home turf. The Pittsburgh Riverhounds, fresh off of a 1-0 upset of the New England Revolution, will host the Columbus Crew, while Birmingham Legion FC will welcome Charlotte FC to Alabama.
All round of 16 matches are set to take place on May 23-24.
