2023 NFL draft: Giants currently slated to select 23rd overall

If the season ended today (and it obviously doesn’t), the New York Giants would select 23rd overall in the 2023 NFL draft.

In a pleasant surprise, the New York Giants started the season 6-1 under their new regime led by head coach Brian Daboll. With that, despite going 1-4-1 in their last six games, the Giants are playing meaningful football in December.

A win on Sunday Night Football against the Washington Commanders will go a long way toward the Giants securing a playoff berth. Meaningful December football also means that the Giants likely won’t be picking near the top of the draft as they have unfortunately grown accustomed to in recent memory.

The Giants are currently slated to pick 23rd overall in the 2023 NFL draft, per Tanktathon. That’s unfamiliar territory for Big Blue. In fact, the Giants have had a top-12 pick entering the draft in eight of the last nine years.

With many calling for the team to move off of Daniel Jones despite a strong 2022 campaign, this upcoming draft may not be the year for that as most of the top quarterback talent will likely be gone by the time the Giants are on the clock.

The roster has plenty of room for improvement and will be addressed by general manager Joe Schoen going into his second draft with the team this spring. The Giants will likely address the offensive line and their secondary at some point this offseason, whether it be via free agency or in the draft.

Big Blue has some great pieces to build around, especially given the players getting heavy consideration for the Pro Bowl. The Giants will indeed look to add to their youthful talent in the upcoming draft.
