The Buffalo Bills have been connected to Texas running back Bijan Robinson early and often via mock drafts this spring.
Now there’s a concrete link for the team and player.
During his press conference at the 2023 NFL combine, Robinson told reporters, including WIVB-TV, that he had a formal meeting with the Bills at the event.
Teams are allowed to hold 45 such meetings with prospects at the combine and Buffalo tabbed Robinson for one of those slots. Among all other prospects, Robinson having one will turn heads because he’s been mock drafted to Buffalo more than any other player early this offseason.
That’s because the might lose Devin Singletary this spring. He’s a pending free agent.
Still, James Cook was the team’s second-round selection at the 2022 draft.Could Buffalo really use another high selection on a running back?
It’s possible, but we have to wait and see if the Bills manage to address other issues first.
Last season, Robinson rushed for 1,580 rushing yards, an average of 6.1 per carry, with 20 total touchdowns in 12 games.
The six-foot back has a big frame at 220 pounds. The Draft Network raves about his build and athleticism. But he has dealt with injury.
Robinson is mostly a player that has captured the attention of Buffalo because of his position. The Bills have lacked an every-down running back for most of quarterback Josh Allen’s career.
The hope would be that Robinson could kick start a rushing attack to pair with Allen’s throwing.
Additionally, Robinson is of interest because some draft analysts name him a top-10 talent.
However, because NFL teams avoid selecting running backs with high picks, it could allow Robinson to fall all the way down to Buffalo’s first selection at No. 27 overall.
