2023 Florida Gators commit Jaden Rashada has been elevated from a four-star prospect to a five-star prospect by 247Sports.
The top commit in the Gators’ 2023 class, Rashada is a quarterback from California that committed to Florida in November. His flip from Miami (Florida) was a full-circle moment for [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] in crafting his first full recruiting class. Rashada’s commitment to the Hurricanes in June was the catalyst for Napier’s open letter to the fan base. It was a way of reassuring it that the recruiting standard Napier was hired to restore will be met.
Rashada’s commitment is a reflection of the growth Florida’s recruiting has had since Napier took over. Under [autotag]Dan Mullen[/autotag], recruiting was seen as secondary to the on-field product. Napier’s approach is one of marrying the on-field product with recruiting: It’s the idea that without recruiting, there is no on-field product — at least not to the level that Florida’s program expects to be at.
That approach seems to be working. Florida is currently ranked as the No. 9 team in the 2023 recruiting class, per 247Sports. The Gators would be ranked at No. 6 if they were ranked by the average recruit rating, with Rashada leading the way as the No. 29 national player in 247Sports rankings.
The Gators are eager to get their top 10 recruiting class on campus but they have to finish their 2022 season without them. They’ll also be shorthanded in their upcoming bowl game after an exodus of players via the transfer portal and top performers opting out due to the NFL draft.
The Gators will take on the Oregon State Beavers in the Las Vegas Bowl this Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. EST with the game being broadcast on ESPN.
