BREAKING: Michigan State football has picked up their first commit in the 2024 class and it’s a big one

Michigan State football has picked up their first commit in the 2024 class and it’s a big one.

Four-star wide receiver Nick Marsh announced on Sunday that he has committed to Michigan State. Marsh hails from River Rouge, Mich., and was on-campus this weekend for a recruiting event.

Marsh ranks as the No. 14 wide receiver and No. 82 overall prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2024 class. He is also ranked as the No. 2 player from the state of Michigan in the class.

Marsh picked Michigan State over a host of other big-time programs that have offered him a scholarship already. He has more than 30 offers, including from the likes of Arkansas, Arizona State, Michigan, Kentucky, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Penn State, Tennessee and Wisconsin.

Warriors’ Steve Kerr pays tribute to NBA legend Bill Russell

Steve Kerr paid tribute to the legendary Bill Russell with a video message on Sunday.

On Sunday, the world learned the devastating news of the passing of basketball and civil rights legend Bill Russell at 88 years old.

Following the announcement of Russell’s passing, Steve Kerr paid tribute to the NBA pillar with a video message on Twitter. Kerr reflected on Russell’s connection to the Bay Area, his time with the Celtics and his impact off the court with civil rights and social justice.

Via @warriors on Twitter:

During his time on the court in the NBA, Russell won 11 championships in 13 seasons with the Boston Celtics. Russell won eight consecutive NBA Finals with the Celtics and was 10-0 in his career in Game 7s.

Russell’s final two championships were won as a player-coach. Along with winning two titles as a player-coach, Russell blazed a trail as the first Black head coach of any major professional American sport.

The NBA Hall of Famer averaged 15.1 points, 22.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists over his career. Russell trails only Wilt Chamberlain for most rebounds in NBA history with 21,620 total boards.

Prior to joining the Celtics, Russell won two NCAA championships with the University of San Francisco in 1955 and 1956. Russell was a two-time All-American at USF and was named NCAA tournament’s Most Outstanding Player in 1955. Russell’s No. 6 Dons jersey now hangs from the rafters at the hilltop in San Francisco.

On Site – NFL future bets: Who will win Super Bowl 57, MVP and ROY?

We analyze Tipico Sportsbook NFL future odds on Super Bowl 57 and who will wiin the regular-season MVP and Rookie of the Year awards.

While the NFL’s regular season doesn’t start until Sept. 8 (Buffalo Bills at Los Angeles Rams), now is a great time to bet on NFL futures. Tipico Sportsbook is already accepting bets on Super Bowl winners, MVPs and more.

On Site host Tony Anderson is joined by BetFTW senior writer Prince J. Grimes to offer their best bets for who will win Super Bowl 57, the regular-season MVP and Rookies of the Year.

Along with suggesting a team that has odds of +600 to win the Super Bowl, Grimes likes an AFC quarterback “with outstanding value” to win the MVP and he tabs a New York Jets running back to claim the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

As for Defensive Rookie of the Year, Grimes predicts a New York Giants lineman to take home the award.

Anderson agrees with Grimes’ defensive rookie pick but differs in the other 3 categories. He likes a West Coast team with +1500 odds to raise the Lombardi Trophy – Feb. 12 in Glendale, Ariz. – a different AFC QB to win the MVP and an NFC receiver to win Offensive Rookie of the Year.

The AP poll is the longest running college football measuring stick going, and it’s still – along with the USA TODAY Coaches Poll – a great indication of how the top teams are viewed and where the expectations are set.

Lately the preseason poll pretty much mirrors the Coaches version, but there are always a few tweaks and differences with a few more non-traditional teams getting a little more love – last year’s had Cincinnati and Coastal Carolina higher than the Coaches Poll did.

This year isn’t going to be quite as crazy as last year coming off the strange 2020, but this season there should be a whole lot of differences from the Coaches Poll with so many questions outside of the top five.

The 2021 Preseason AP Poll had Alabama No. 1, Oklahoma No. 2, Clemson No. 3, Ohio State No. 4. Eventual national champion Georgia came in at 5, Cincinnati was 8, and Michigan was stuck in the Also Receiving Votes abyss.

Below is NOT the actual 2022 Preseason AP Poll – it’s our prediction and projection of what it might be before its release in mid-August.

How many games will the Steelers play against Deshaun Watson in 2022?

Will Deshaun Watson play in 2022?

[mm-video type=playlist id=01eqbydbzmnr1bhxef player_id=none image=https://steelerswire.usatoday.com/wp-content/plugins/mm-video/images/playlist-icon.png]

Monday morning, the NFL is expected to announce the punishment for Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson. Watson is currently sorting through around two dozen allegations of sexual misconduct and is facing some sort of suspension by the league. Meanwhile the Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing to square off with the Browns twice this season.

The Steelers and Browns square off in Weeks 3 and 18 this season. The reality of this situation is, if the Browns have Watson they are a playoff contender, plain and simple. Watson is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. But without Watson, Cleveland is the worst team in the AFC North.

Cast your vote and let us know how many times you think the Steelers will square off with Watson this season.

Peach State QB sees similarities to Uiagalelei, feels he could ‘really fit in’ with Clemson’s offense

After camping at Clemson this summer, a talented young signal-caller from the Peach State, with a double-digit offer list already, is looking to return to Tiger Town during the upcoming season.

Antwann Hill – a 6-foot-5, 210-pound rising sophomore quarterback from Houston County High School in Warner Robins, Ga. – plans to coordinate with Clemson offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Brandon Streeter to arrange a game-day visit for this fall.

“I will get in touch with Coach Streeter and pick out a game,” Hill told The Clemson Insider recently. “I would love to see a big game just to see how they game plan for those really tough opponents.”

Hill, a class of 2025 prospect who holds several ACC and SEC offers, had the opportunity to work and talk with Streeter during the first day of the Dabo Swinney Camp on June 1.

When he looks back on that trip to Tiger Town for camp, a couple of things stick out to Hill about Clemson’s program based on what he learned about it, especially the style of offense and quarterback position.

“What stands out is I love how they prepare the quarterbacks and the pro-style system they run,” he said.

Hill – who has hauled in early offers from Georgia, Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Arkansas, Pittsburgh, Louisville and others – describes himself as a pocket passer but added that he’s “a playmaker.”

“If I need to use my legs, that’s what I’m going to do,” he said.

Given what he brings to the table as a quarterback, Hill believes he’d be a great fit for the Tigers’ offense in the future, and he sees similarities between himself and Clemson rising junior quarterback DJ Uiagalelei.

“I think me and DJ, Clemson’s current QB, have things in common – big size, frame, strong arm and can make plays,” Hill said. “So, I strongly feel I could really fit in with the offensive scheme they run.”

It’s still really early in the recruiting process for Hill, but he named Ohio State, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia and Florida as some of the schools standing out to him at this point.

Hill is high on the Tigers, as well, and can see himself potentially calling Clemson his college home should Swinney’s program extend an offer to him down the road.

“An offer from Clemson would be another big life-changing opportunity on the table for me,” he said, “that maybe can be a new home for me in the future.”
