In his latest two-round 2022 NFL mock draft, Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar has the Denver Broncos selecting Oklahoma linebacker Brian Asamoah with their first pick (No. 64 overall in the second round).
Asamoah (6-0, 226 pounds) earned second-team All-Big 12 honors in 2021 after totaling 80 tackles, two forced fumbles and one sack in his junior season. In three years (32 games) with the Sooners, Asamoah recorded 168 tackles (including 12.5 tackles for losses), five sacks, five pass breakups, three forced fumbles and one interception.
He ran a 40-yard dash in 4.56 seconds and had a 36.5-inch vertical jump at the NFL combine earlier this offseaon.
NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has compared Asamoah to Kamu Grugier-Hill, who as a sixth-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft. Draft Wire’s Luke Easterling has Asamoah ranked as the eighth-best linebacker in this year’s class.
If selected by the Broncos, Asamoah would likely contribute on special teams initially before competing for a starting linebacker spot down the road.
