2022 NFL draft: Jets hold 2 top-7 picks entering final week of regular season

The 4-12 Jets own two of the top seven picks in the 2022 NFL draft entering the final week of the regular season.

With 16 games in the books and just one left to play, the 4-12 Jets are in line for two of the first seven picks in the 2022 NFL draft.

Per NFL.com, New York has its own first-round selection at No. 4 and Seattle’s at No. 8. The Jets own the Seahawks’ first-rounder thanks to the Jamal Adams trade.

New York nearly upset the Buccaneers in Week 17, but fell victim to an all too familiar Tom Brady game-winning touchdown drive. The Jets had a chance to ice the game on 4th-and-2 leading 24-20 just before the final two-minute warning, as Tampa Bay did not have any timeouts remaining. However, a miscommunication led to a botched Zach Wilson quarterback sneak attempt and Brady promptly drove down the field and fired a go-ahead 33-yard touchdown to Cyril Grayson with 15 seconds left.

The Jets will have one last chance to get back into the win column this season when they travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills. New York’s Week 18 venture to Orchard Park won’t be like its most recent end-of-the-season trip deep into New York, as the Bills are still fighting for a division title and playoff seeding. The Jets will encounter Buffalo’s starters in their season finale, which wasn’t the case when they ended 2019 with a 13-6 win over the Bills’ backups.
