2022 New England Patriots’ win total, Super Bowl, conference and division odds

Analyzing 2022 NFL futures for the New England Patriots, including odds for win total, Super Bowl and division with expert picks.

The New England Patriots were one of the darlings of the NFL last season, as coach Bill Belichick proved he could win with a rookie QB who wasn’t among the top guys taken and brought the Patriots back to the playoffs.

Below, we look at the New England Patriots 2022 NFL futures odds – including win total, division, conference and Super Bowl odds at Tipico Sportsbook – with best bet suggestions among our NFL picks and predictions.

Last year, New England broke tradition and spent heavily in free agency to bring in high-end outside talent, especially on defense. The result was that the Patriots had the league’s fourth-ranked defense.

This time around, there were many more losses than gains. The team brought in WR DeVante Parker, CB Terrance Mitchell and RB Ty Montgomery, but lost CB J.C. Jackson, guards Shaquille Mason and Ted Karras, DE Kyle Van Noy, DT Chase Winovich and versatile RB Brandon Bolden. All things considered, not a fair trade.

New England Patriots’ 2022 win total: Best bet

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Monday, May 16 at 9:20 a.m. ET.

Over/Under: 8.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

This is a tough number because the Patriots are facing a daunting schedule that has only one patch where you can envision them stacking up wins, but the team won 10 games last year with rookie QB Mac Jones, who seemed to absorb Bill Belichick‘s scheme better than the rest of the star-studded 2021 QB draft class.

With another offseason to pick up more, the Patriots aren’t worse off than they were coming into last year. I see this team as being a middle-of-the-road 9-8 or 8-9 team, but I’ve learned over the years not to underestimate  Belichick. I’ll take my chances with 9 wins.

TAKE THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS AND THE OVER (-115)

New England Patriots’ 2022 Super Bowl odds

Odds: +4000 (bet $100 to win $4,000)

What the Patriots accomplished last year was nothing short of miraculous. The other franchises that invested in rookie quarterbacks got little to nothing to show for it in 2021. Jones and the Patriots won 10 games and won some where it was obvious that the scheme and the game plan was the reason.

It should be noted the Patriots made a quick playoff exit, because they were an overachieving team last year that played consistent defense and game-managed offense. That may get them in contention for the playoffs again, but this team isn’t a Super Bowl team. PASS.

New England Patriots’ 2022 playoff odds

Will Patriots make the playoffs: Yes +150 | No -180

Unlike the Bills and Dolphins, the Patriots haven’t done anything to make themselves better this offseason than they were in 2021. Both of those division rivals bolstered their forces and the Jets even made significant improvement with solid drafting that included multiple early picks.

While the Pats are a team capable of finishing 9-8 or 10-7, I lean more toward the 9-8 and that doesn’t get a team into the playoffs as competitive as the AFC is going to be this year. It will take a minimum of 10 wins to make it.

TAKE THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS NOT TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS (-170)

Odds to win AFC East Division

  • Buffalo Bills -220 (bet $220 to win $100)
  • Miami Dolphins +400 (bet $100 to win $400)
  • New England Patriots +450 (bet $100 to win $450)
  • New York Jets +2000 (bet $100 to win $2,000)

If I was to go against my gut instinct, it would be to place a small wager at +450 and bank that Josh Allen’s reckless style gets him injured and opens up the field for New England and Miami to make a run at the division. Since it hasn’t happened yet and Allen doesn’t have much tread off the tires, that’s a hard premise to justify with any empirical data, so going that route is more like flipping a coin and not making a bet based on hunch more than anything else. PASS.

Odds to win AFC

Odds: +2000 (bet $100 to win $2,000)

The odds tell it all here. According to Tipico Sportsbook, the betting lines tell you the Patriots should finish third in their division. The odds of making the playoffs are tough when there are only 3 wild card spots available and 1 of them is already accounted for in your own division. Even if the Patriots make the playoffs, they aren’t a team built to come back from double-digit deficits and all it takes is one of those in the playoffs to end a season. PASS.
