2022 Baltimore Orioles World Series, win total, pennant and division odds

Looking at the 2022 MLB futures for the Baltimore Orioles, including odds for the World Series, pennant, division and projected win total.

The 2021 Baltimore Orioles went 52-110 (.321), which tied the Arizona Diamondbacks for MLB’s worst record last season. It marked the O’s fourth last-place AL East finish in 5 seasons – they were fourth during the 2020 shortened COVID-19 season. Below, we look at the Baltimore Orioles MLB futures odds, including their projected 2022 win total and World Series odds at Tipico Sportsbook.

The Orioles scored 4.07 runs per game (26th MLB) and allowed 5.90 RPG (30th) a year ago. They went 13-44 (.228) in games decided by 5 runs or more. The rotation averaged just 4.5 innings per start and posted an ugly 5.99 ERA (30th), while the bullpen featured a 5.70 ERA (30th).

There were some positives.

OF Cedric Mullins became the first 30-30 man (home runs and stolen bases) in franchise history, rookie 1B Ryan Mountcastle banged out 33 HR, and SP John Means threw a no-hitter and finished the season with a respectable 3.62 ERA.

Baltimore Orioles’ 2022 World Series odds

Odds: +30000 (bet $100 to win $30,000)

Baltimore is tied with the Pittsburgh Pirates for the longest odds on the board. The Los Angeles Dodgers (+450) are the favorites, followed by the Houston Astros (+900) and Toronto Blue Jays (+900).

At +30000, the Orioles have an implied probability of winning the World Series of 0.33% or 300/1 fractional odds.

In my experience, these futures props are like the bottom of the tote board in horse racing where horses (or teams in this case) get over-bet.

With where Baltimore is in its cycle — and four good teams in the AL East — a 500-to-1 tag would oversell the club’s chances. PASS.

Baltimore Orioles’ 2022 win total

Over/Under: 62.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

There is enough natural buoyancy to baseball numbers — even for a bottom-feeder in this tough AL East — to make the OVER 62.5 (-110) a strong consideration.

The Orioles have not infused many veterans and free agents into the 2022 roster, but they have built a strong minor-league system, one ranked in the top-5 of the league. There is enough of a positive outlook to support an extra couple wins per month being added to last year’s abysmal season.

Odds to win AL East Division

  • Toronto Blue Jays +162 (bet $100 to win $162)
  • New York Yankees +220 (bet $100 to win $220)
  • Tampa Bay Rays +260 (bet $100 to win $260)
  • Boston Red Sox +500 (bet $100 to win $500)
  • Baltimore Orioles +20000 (bet $100 to win $20,000)

Baltimore’s implied probability of winning the AL East is 0.5% or 200/1 fractional odds. Even in a five team field, these odds are too short. PASS.

Odds to win American League

Odds: +20000 (bet $100 to win $20,000)

NO THANKS. The 0.5% implied odds are way too short here,
