Overview

Justin Weller is entering his final season of Penn State football unless he chooses to take advantage of an extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA for all student-athletes last season. But the redshirt senior will enter 2021 knowing he has accomplished a lot during his time at Penn State. That may not be reflected in the stats, but Wilson has been a key member of the program during his time in Happy Valley.

Weller has been deep on the depth chart, but his work on the practice field has earned him recognition as one of Penn State’s top developmental players, those who help prepare their teammates for the competition they will be facing on Saturday. Hard work during the week is not easy when you don’t necessarily get the spotlight on gameday, but Weller has embraced the mentality that it takes a full team effort to succeed.

Weller has appeared in three games, one each in 2018, 2019, and 2020. He has worked on offense and special teams during his brief time on the field. But he’s been hard at work in the classroom outside of football, earning high marks and Academic All-Big Ten honors three times.

Weller’s dedication to helping Penn State football succeed often goes unnoticed by the fans watching the games, but his efforts are not overlooked within the program. We’ll see if he gets a chance to record some stats in 2021 to end his career with a highlight or two to look back on.
