When NHL players (with the notable exception of Alex Ovechkin) take the ice later this month for the All-Star game, they’ll be decked out in these totally acceptable, mostly OK, jerseys.
According to the NHL, the Adidas jerseys “pioneer a revolutionary look” and incorporate design elements from the host city, St. Louis. Though they may look simple on the surface, there’s a lot going on in these jerseys, from the sliver-piping to the bold logos.
Per the NHL:
“To pay homage to the original sweaters of the St. Louis Blues and to transform the city’s acclaimed rhythm and blues history into a tangible form, the 2020 Honda NHL® All-Star Game jersey’s striping mimics a musical staff along the front and sleeves of the jersey. As another nod to the host city, the stitching elements are conducted in an eye-catching silver thread, inspired by the iconic Gateway Arch.”
Opinion across the For The Win staff has been mixed, varying from “the white ones look like something any t-shirt vendor could make in 15 minutes” to “those are hard, I like ’em.”
From past experience, the designs often look a little boring on screen, but tend to pop on the actual ice, so maybe that will be the case this time as well. The initial reaction from NHL fans is um, not as positive.
It’s like a beer league team was too cheap to buy new jersey’s and just slapped a logo on

Wow, who designed these? They should be ashamed, as should anyone else involved in approving them. Absolutely atrocious, though fitting for the joke that is the NHL All-Star game.
