The 2017 Ohio State football team was loaded. And the fact was reinforced Thursday through the first three picks of the NFL Draft.
How about all three players chosen to open the selection process were teammates on the Buckeyes team that went 12-2 in 2017.
The Bengals opened the draft by choosing Joe Burrow, who transferred from Columbus to Baton Rouge and the LSU. That was followed by defensive end Chase Young being selected by Washington. And the third player picked was DB Jeff Okudah by the Detroit Lions.
Oh, and if you want to go back a year, Joey Bosa, who was chosen second by the 49ers in 2019, was on that Buckeye team.
Burrow completed 7-of-11 passes for 61 yards and no TDs. Young had 3.5 sacks and 18 tackles. Okudah had 17 tackles and one interception.
Nine Ohio State players overall were taken in 2019. The numbers should continue to grow in 2020.
That makes one wonder, how did Oklahoma and Iowa defeat such a power-packed team in 2017?
