On Tuesday afternoon, the NFL officially awarded 32 compensatory picks in the 2020 NFL Draft and the New York Giants qualified for four, but ultimately received just three of those based on the highly secret formula.
Those three picks are as follows:
- Round 3 (No. 99 overall)
- Round 7 (No. 247 overall)
- Round 7 (No. 255 overall)
With the three compensatory picks in tow, the Giants now have a total of 10 picks in April’s draft. The full list can be found below:
- Round 1 (No. 4 overall)
- Round 2 (No. 36 overall)
- Round 3 (No. 99 overall)
- Round 4 (No. 110 overall)
- Round 5 (No. 150 overall)
- Round 6 (No. 183 overall)
- Round 7 (No. 218 overall)
- Round 7 (No. 238 overall)
- Round 7 (No. 247 overall)
- Round 7 (No. 255 overall)
The good news? The Giants have three picks in the top 100. The bad news? They have four picks in Round 7.
General manager Dave Gettleman is going to need some creativity to boost the team’s value in the middle rounds, especially after surrendering two picks in exchange for defensive lineman Leonard Williams, who appears destined to hit free agency.
The Giants have said they are “open for business” at No. 4, but Gettleman has never before traded down in his life as a general manager. And should that trend continue, the Giants will be banking on their first three picks and saying a prayer that any of their final seven work out.
