Evan Mobley, the 2020 USC commit who’s rated the No. 1 recruit in the 247Sports recruiting rankings, had some unfortunate business on Monday morning.
He ran into a brick wall
That brick wall happens to be named Hunter Dickinson, the four-star Michigan commit, who, by the same metrics, is ranked 34th overall in the 2020 rankings. The two high school players went at it as Hyattsville (MD) DeMatha Catholic took on Temecula (CA) Rancho Christian on Monday, and Dickinson got the best of the five-star, thoroughly outplaying him, drawing rave reviews from the media.

Final statlines …

The center-on-center matchup did little to daunt the Michigan commitment, as he told ESPN after the game that the rankings didn’t matter at all to him.
It’s all about what transpired on the court.
“I went in there — I just feel like I’m better — so I went in there and I just played my game,” Dickinson said. “My teammates really found me. They found me in great spots and I just tried to capitalize on it.”

Michigan’s 2020 class is already solid with Dickinson, five-star Isaiah Todd and four-stars Zeb Jackson and Terrance Williams in the fold. The Wolverines are hoping for more good news come Monday night, as three-star forward Jace Howard, son of head coach Juwan Howard, plans to make his commitment known at 7:30PM EST.
