Jalen Reagor
Dallas was always in the market for a wide receiver, but the hometown TCU product was seen as a more realistic possibility for the Cowboys. A slim speedster catching passes, Reagor also excels as a punt and kick returner. The Cowboys have a need in that capacity, too, and they could have checked both boxes by taking Reagor.
Most draft gurus predicted Reagor being selected in the back half of the first round or, more likely, lasting into Friday’s second round. Philadelphia took him with the 21st pick. Now instead of wearing the star, the Cowboys secondary will have to contend with Reagor twice a season as an Eagle.
Justin Jefferson
A true slot receiver was on the Cowboys’ wish list after losing Randall Cobb in free agency. Jefferson, who led the nation in 2019 with 111 receptions in his junior season at LSU, would have fit that bill perfectly. He’s got good size, runs well, has speed, possesses great body control, and displays strong hands. And as a veteran of the SEC gauntlet, Jefferson is no stranger to big games against high-caliber opponents week in and week out.
Minnesota selected Jefferson with the 22nd overall pick Thursday night, using the pick they had acquired by trading Stefon Diggs to Buffalo last month. Dallas is scheduled to travel to play the Vikings on the road in 2020.
