There’s enough controversy trying to rank players from one draft class, let alone several. But despite that, Pro Football Focus attempted to rank the top-50 prospects from the last seven draft classes dating back to 2015. The Jacksonville Jaguars may be about to land the top player on this list in Trevor Lawrence, but that won’t be official for another few weeks.
In the meantime, two players currently on Jacksonville’s roster also cracked the top-50: Myles Jack and Josh Allen. Jack was considered by some to be the best prospect in the 2016 draft class, but concerns about his health led him to fall to the Jags in the second round. He has been excellent in the league and has managed to maintain his health, leading to a big second contract. He’s listed as the No. 43 prospect here.
Jack slid down the draft due to a knee issue, but his linebacker — and running back — tape from UCLA was special. In his last full season, which came in 2014, Jack earned a 91.3 coverage grade and missed only five tackles on 93 attempts.
Allen, meanwhile, was a dominant player at Kentucky in college, and when he fell to the Jaguars at No. 7, it was considered by many to be the steal of the draft. He’s been very solid in his first two seasons, and Jacksonville hopes he’ll continue to develop. He comes in just a few spots after Jack at No. 46.
Allen was a one-year wonder, but it was easy to buy into his physical tools and commitment to perfecting his craft. Allen’s pass-rushing grade jumped from 82.2 as a junior to 94.4 as a senior at Kentucky.
These weren’t the only Jags draft picks on the list. Two more players who are no longer with the team made it, as well. No. 21 Jalen Ramsey and No. 41 Dante Fowler were top-10 picks for the Jaguars, but both were traded. Keeping talent around has been a serious issue for the Jaguars over the last few seasons, but they’ve definitely had some hits when it comes to the draft.
