The Kansas City Chiefs have seen some great performances through the first quarter of the season, mostly on the offensive side of the ball. Two of those performances are receiving some praise from the folks at Pro Football Focus.

On Wednesday, PFF released their first-quarter All-Pro team, with standouts from across the league at various positions. A pair of offensive weapons in Kansas City earned selections to the team, and they’re both no strangers to All-Pro recognition.

First up, Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill earned recognition at the wide receiver position. It’s a bit of a surprise because Hill was held to just three catches for 14 yards in Week 2. It just goes to show how impressive he was in the other three games the Chiefs have played this season.

Here’s some of what PFF’s Sam Monson wrote about Hill’s selection:

“He is the most explosive player in the game and ranks second in the league in receiving yards despite seeing only the eighth-most targets. Hill’s average depth of target is 14.1 yards downfield, giving him a chance to make impact plays any time the ball comes his way.”

Hill has been a monster this season with yards after the catch, at times running away from numerous defenders with ease. He’s certainly made a case to be considered the best receiver in the league through a quarter of the season.

One of Hill’s offensive teammates has also been a standout through four weeks of play, none other than TE Travis Kelce. He’s finally getting the recognition he deserves for his blocking skills, in addition to his freakish ability to take over games as a receiver.

“With eight broken tackles, Kelce is tied for the league lead among pass-catchers and is generating 2.3 yards per route run. An underrated aspect of his game is how much he has improved as a blocker from early in his career. He has PFF blocking grades of at least 72.0 in both the run and pass games.”

The biggest surprise here is that Patrick Mahomes didn’t get recognition at the quarterback position. Sure, Tom Brady is a timeless wonder and runner-up Kyler Murray is leading the NFL’s only undefeated squad, but Mahomes is pacing to break the NFL’s single-season touchdown record. He, along with Kelce and Hill, have kept the Chiefs in every game they’ve played this season, including ones they had no business being in.

Mahomes has thrown several picks early in the season, which is probably why he missed a selection here. Perhaps in four months, he’ll have played a cleaner month-plus of football and PFF will get a chance to correct that mistake.
