18-year-old who got a 2022 Celtics championship banner tattoo said he won’t remove it

The tattoo is staying.

The reason a site like Bet For The Win can exist is because it’s fairly easy to find people with an interest in gambling money on sports. What’s not as easy is finding people willing to gamble the real estate of their body.

Occasionally, however, we catch wind of an over-exuberant fan who does just that, proclaiming their faith in a team to reach the peak of their sport with the ultimate sacrifice of flesh. That’s what Jack Bienvenue did back in March, long before the masses believed his Boston Celtics could contend for a title. The 18-year-old got a Celtics 2022 World Champions banner tattooed on his left bicep.

Well, his bold premonition was two games away from becoming true, but Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors ultimately kept the Celtics from completing the job. Now Bienvenue has a tattoo of something that simply never came to fruition, and he plans to keep it.

“And i know everyone is wondering about the tattoo, im honestly not thinking much about it right now, and it’s not a huge deal to me,” he said in an Instagram Story post after Game 6. “This year has givin me some of the worst and some of the best moments of my life, and a lot of those best moments involve the tattoo. So no it will not be removed.”

You can’t really blame Bienvenue for that perspective. It was still a great run for the Celtics, and as he told The Athletic, if they win it all next year, he can simply have the tattoo altered from 2022 to 2023.
