The San Francisco 49ers came out of their Bye week expecting to get some players back from injuries.
An early practice participation report doesn’t give a clear picture of what an injury situation will look like on game day, but it was jarring to see the 49ers’ practice report from Wednesday’s practice.
The report featured 15 names, including two players not practicing due to injury and 11 others limited for injury reasons. Left tackle Trent Williams was a non-participant for his usual veteran rest day. Cornerback Charvarius Ward was out for personal reasons.
This stage of the week doesn’t offer much info in regards to a player’s availability for Sunday, but it’ll be worth keeping a close eye on these injuries moving forward.
Here’s what Wednesday’s practice report looked like:
Did not participate
WR Chris Conley (hamstring)
DT Kevin Givens (groin)
CB Charvarius Ward (not injury related – personal matter)
LT Trent Williams (not injury related – resting player)
Conley suffered a hamstring injury in Week 8 and is considered week-to-week. Givens missed Week 8 with his groin issue. It’s unclear when Ward will return following the death of his one-year-old daughter, but he’ll surely be given whatever amount of time he needs.
Limited participation
DE Nick Bosa (hip)
OL Jon Feliciano (knee)
DL Yetur Gross-Matos (knee)
WR Jauan Jennings (hip)
RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles)
K Jake Moody (ankle)
WR Deebo Samuel (rib, oblique)
P Mitch Wishnowsky (back)
CB Renardo Green (ankle)
RB Jordan Mason (shoulder)
LB Dee Winters (concussion)
Yikes! Chances are most of these limited practices are just precautionary. Bosa wasn’t listed by head coach Kyle Shanahan on the pre-practice participation report. Neither were Mason, Green or Winters. Mason has been dealing with a shoulder injury since Week 6 and re-aggravated that issue in Week 8. Green got hurt on the final play of the team’s Week 8 game. Winters suffered a concussion in that same contest.
