Been rather healthy & will be around
Back to focusing on the Diggs in the building in Orchard Park, the Bills are also getting a guy that’s been rather healthy. The 26-year-old is also under contract for a few more seasons.
In some cases, a player wants to be traded for a new contract, which is often the case with a franchise tagging situation. Diggs just wanted out of Minnesota in general and that’s it. His contract? He’s seemingly fine with it. The former Maryland product signed a five-year, $72 million deal with the Vikings in late July 2018.
Moving forward with the Bills, Diggs will have a cap hit of $11.5 million in 2020 and then one of $12 million from 2021-2023. Per Spotrac, Diggs is the 19th highest-paid receiver in the NFL, and he certainly has potential to rank even higher than that in terms of his play. Diggs’ 1,130 receiving yards last year actually ranked 17th in the league.
And of course, there’s health. Diggs has dealt with some bumps and bruises in his career. He has yet to play in all 16 games in a single season, but’s also never played fewer than 13 a year. In 2019 at least, he kind of did play a full season. Like the Bills, the Vikings wrapped up a playoff spot ahead of Week 17 and he sat things out with a hip injury.
