Chewed out Sam Darnold
Things went from bad to worse for the Jets on one November afternoon in 2019. As noted throughout the year, the Dolphins, not the Jets, were one of the NFL’s worst teams. Miami started their campaign 0-7 and won their first game on Nov. 3 against… the Jets. During the game, Winters evidently was none too pleased.
Somehow, there isn’t really any video of what happened. But on a bad snap while the Jets were on offense, the ball flew by Jets quarterback Sam Darnold and through the end zone for a safety. After that play, Winters was pissed at his quarterback. While video is hard to come by, reactions from the New York media were not:
WOW.
Brian Winters jawing at Sam Darnold at that errant shotgun snap that results in a safety.
Jets have hit rock bottom

At least it sounded like Jets head coach Adam Gase really had the situation under control…
“We’d rather not (have that) go on, but sometimes you have to hash through things,” Gase said after the game.
