Small rookie impact?

No one is hit harder than the current pandemic than rookies, in regard to the NFL offseason. Because of not being able to get to team facilities, rookies could have a longer learning curve until they can actually head to Orchard Park. Looking ahead to the 2020 season, McDermott sounded like he’s not going to expect rookies to, at least immediately, make big impacts on the upcoming regular season.

“It’s a big time uphill climb for them because they don’t know… not only do they not know us… they don’t know our systems, our schemes. Then on top of that, you talk about transitioning to life in the NFL. That’s a whole other program we’ve tried to be on point with,” McDermott said.

“We also have to be realistic with, potentially, what could be their contribution level be? We’ll see,” McDermott added.
