10 tallest heavyweight titleholders

Boxing Junkie presents the 10 tallest heavyweight champions in history.

NICOLAI VALUEV

Height: 7-0 (2.13 meters)
Active: 1993-2009
Record
: 50-2 (34 KOs)
Title(s): WBA
Background: Valuev was a sight to behold when he stepped into the ring, dwarfing his opponents both in terms of height and weight. Evander Holyfield, who is 6-2½, looked like a chiseled flyweight standing next to The Russian Giant. Valeuv’s height presented a problem for his foes. So did his weight, more than 300 pounds. And Valuev could actually box a little. Hence his ability to beat capable heavyweights. He won his first title by outpointing John Ruiz in 2005, becoming both the tallest and heaviest (324 pounds) man to win a major belt. He lost his title by a majority decision Ruslan Chagaev in 2007. The following year he outpointed Ruiz again to win the vacant title, successfully defended against an elderly Holyfield (controversially) and then lost it to David Haye by majority decision.  Valuev, 36 at that time, never fought again.
